Family

Phillip was born in 1876 at Copsale. His younger brother Alfred had earlier been buried aged 5 months at Southwater Church in 1875
and his younger brother Albert was baptised here in 1878. He joined the Army and served in India earning the Punjab Frontier 1897-98 medal.

He went to South Africa during the Boer War where he earned the Queen's 1902 Orange Free State Medal

He married at Lambeth in 1904 as a railway labourer to Amy Sullivan and died leaving four children, two boys and two girls
