Family Philip was born in 1876 at Copsale
His younger brother Alfred had earlier been buried age 5 months at Southwater Church in 1875 and his younger brother Albert was baptised here in 1878
he joined the army and served in India, earning the Punjab Frontier 1897-98 medal
He went to South Africa during the Boer War where he earned the Queen's 1902 Orange Free State Medal He married at Lambeth in 1904 as a railway labourer to Amy Sullivan
